3 Day Bible Reading Plan - “Vision Sunday”

“Our ears start our prayers and shape our stories. We must listen to God before we talk to God. Prayer starts with listening to God’s voice in the scriptures and then speaking back to Him our needs, our feelings, and our thoughts in light of what He has already said. The practice of listening, then talking, creates a biblically balanced prayer life and shapes the ending of our story.” - Pastor Paul Crandell, 1/11/26

Day 1

    • Whose counsel are you most consistently walking in right now, the wisdom of the world (media, friends, culture, self), or the unchanging truth of God's Word, and how has that choice subtly shaped your daily decisions and priorities?

    • How regularly do you meditate on God's Word day and night, not just reading it quickly, but chewing on it, talking it over in your heart, applying it to your situations, and what practical changes (time, place, method) would help you cultivate this life-giving habit?

    • In what areas of your life are you still listening to the 'scoffers,' those voices (internal or external) that ridicule wholehearted obedience, biblical conviction, or serious devotion, and how does refusing their seat protect your soul and increase your blessedness?

Pause and Reflect: Heavenly Father, help me turn away from the counsel, ways, and mocking voices of the world that pull me from You, and instead give me a heart that truly delights in Your law as my greatest joy. Teach me to meditate on Your Word day and night, so I may walk in Your blessing and become like a tree planted by streams of living water.

“Christ is to the heart like a river to a tree planted by it. It is the only way in which men can be happy, supposing rational creatures have their faculties in exercise. It is so by the eternal purpose and contrivance of God. It is so necessarily, in the nature of things. The faculties and affections must have some object. If Christ is not the object, the creature will be. If Christ is, he will be the creature's sovereign, and his whole soul will be devoted to him. In this place will be the highest enjoyment of the whole nature. If not, the sovereign will be self, and Christ and his salvation will be subservient to that. Selfishness will take possession of the throne; Christ and his glorious design will be dishonored; and the soul, of course, ruined.” - Jonathan Edwards

Day 2

    • How deeply are your spiritual roots planted in the steady, life-giving streams of God's Word right now? Are they drawing constant nourishment so that your life shows consistent fruit, or are they shallow and vulnerable to the droughts of busyness, doubt, or distraction?

    • Does your 'leaf' remain green and vital even in the heat of trials, criticism, or spiritual dryness, or do you find yourself wilting under pressure, and how can staying connected to the unfailing streams of God's promises keep you evergreen and resilient?

    • Knowing the wicked ultimately prove as unstable and worthless as wind-driven chaff, destined to be swept away in judgment, how does this sober reality motivate you today to pursue the blessed, enduring life of the righteous, choosing the path that leads to lasting stability and divine favor?

Pause and Reflect: Lord Jesus, plant me like a steadfast tree by the streams of Your living water, so that I bear fruit in every season, my leaf stays evergreen through trials, and whatever I do prospers according to Your perfect will. Guard my heart from becoming like worthless chaff blown away by the wind, and root me deeply in Your Word that I may stand firm and fruitful forever.

“The man that makes the word of God his delight, shall be made fruitful in every good work, as opportunity is offered to him; shall be made constant and cheerful in his profession of the truth in any trouble; and shall be made successful in whatsoever he undertakes for God's glory and his own salvation. From whence learn,

  1. That the man who makes the word of God his daily meditation, shall have the blessing of God upon his soul, and upon all his honest undertakings and actions: He shall be like a tree planted.

  2. That the word of God hath sufficient virtue in it to furnish a man with grace for every condition, and for every duty in every condition: He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water.

  3. That the godly man shall make good use of all God's dispensations, and of all seasons and occasions of doing good: He bringeth forth his fruit in his season.

  4. That the godly man shall not faint nor fail in any trial or trouble, but shall be cheerful and fruitful in it: His leaf also shall not wither.

  5. That whatsoever duty or service to God this man goes about, shall not want the assistance of God, nor success, nor acceptance at his hands: Whatsoever he doth shall prosper.

“The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Whatsoever the wicked do for the attaining of true felicity, shall be found mere vanity, and end in their own destruction. From whence learn,

  1. That the ungodly do all they can to make themselves truly blessed: implied in this, that they are not so.

  2. That all they do to this end shall prove vain, unprofitable, and perishing: They are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.” - David Dickson

Day 3

    • When you picture standing before God on the day of judgment, does the thought fill you with dread because you know your life has been shaped more by the counsel of the wicked, or with humble confidence because you have delighted in His law and trusted in Christ’s righteousness?

    • Are there any areas of your life right now where you are still trying to “stand” among the unrighteous, clinging to sins, excuses, or worldly alliances, and what would it look like for you to fully separate yourself so you can one day stand blameless in the congregation of the righteous?

    • How does the promise that the Lord 'knows the way of the righteous,' not just your destination, but every twist, trial, and tear along the path change the way you face uncertainty, loneliness, or hidden struggles today, and what would it look like to rest more fully in being fully known and never forsaken by Him?

Pause and Reflect: Holy Spirit, keep me from the fate of the wicked who will not stand in the judgment nor find a place among Your righteous people; instead, draw me close so I may dwell forever in the assembly of the redeemed. You who know the way of the righteous with perfect, tender knowledge, lead me in that blessed path today, protect me from every perishing way, and bring me safely into Your eternal presence.

“All our congregations upon earth are mixed. Every church hath one devil in it. The tares grow in the same furrows as the wheat. There is no floor which is as yet thoroughly purged from chaff. Sinners mix with saints, as dross mingles with gold. God's precious diamonds still lie in the same field with pebbles. Righteous Lots are this side of heaven continually vexed by the men of Sodom. Let us rejoice then, that in 'the general assembly and church of the firstborn' above, there shall by no means be admitted a single unrenewed soul. Sinners cannot live in heaven. They would be out of their element. Sooner could a fish live upon a tree than the wicked in Paradise. Heaven would be an intolerable hell to an impenitent man, even if he could be allowed to enter; but such a privilege shall never be granted to the man who perseveres in his iniquities.” - Charles Spurgeon
