Fueling Faith and Fun: Join Us for the Sonrise Church Chili Cook-Off & Pie Auction!
At Sonrise Church, we love hearing how summer camp impacts our students. Recently, one of our parents shared this incredible update with us:
"If your house is anything like ours right now, summer camp is a frequent topic of conversation. When our son went to camp last summer, he was just an incoming 6th grader, and that single experience completely catapulted him into the youth group. He hasn't stopped talking about it since and is literally counting down the days until this summer's trip. As parents, we absolutely love seeing him so excited to meet new friends, learn, and grow in his faith."
We want every single student to have that same life-changing opportunity—and that is exactly why we need your help!
What Are We Funding and Why? All proceeds from our upcoming event go directly to the Youth Scholarships fund to help send kids to summer student camp. Our youth ministry is thriving, and camp makes a huge impact. Last year, we were able to take 52 students and 11 dedicated leaders to camp—which was a significant jump of 17 more students and 6 more leaders than the year before!
The spiritual growth we see from these trips is incredible, and it is clear God is stirring hearts in the next generation. Beyond the 6th grader's experience mentioned above, we hear amazing stories from other youth. One student who attended camp recently shared that the experience made him realize "he needs to read the Bible for himself to remember what God has done in his life".
We Need Competitors: Calling All Chili Cooks and Pie Bakers! To make this fundraiser a success and get even more kids to camp, we need YOU to enter our Chili Cook-Off or bake a pie for our Pie Auction.
Chili Competitors: Do you have an amazing, secret family recipe? Or maybe you just found a really good one online? Either way, we want you to make a batch and enter the competition!
Pie Bakers: We need delicious pies to auction off. If you are bringing a pie, please make sure it is delivered by 9:00 am on the day of the event.

Event Details: Come Hungry! Even if you aren't cooking, we need our church family to come out, eat, and vote!
When: Sunday, March 15th
Time: 10:15 am (after the first service) and 12:15 pm (after the second service)
Where: Sonrise Church (6701 NE Campus Way, Hillsboro, OR). Head straight down the main hallway after service and take a right at the end to find us in the dining hall.
Cost: We suggest a donation of $5 per person or $20 for a whole family (for families of more than 4 people). You can sign up here where you can also make the suggested donation to attend the chili cook off.
During the event, you’ll get to taste great chili and vote for your favorite, as well as place bids to take home a delicious pie. Voting for the best chili and the pie auction will conclude after the second service.
The Best Part? Sliming a Pastor! You read that right. In addition to the food, you can donate money to vote on which pastor we get to slime in person at the end of the event! You definitely don't want to miss that.
If you can't make it on March 15th but still have a heart to help send kids to summer camp, you can easily donate online or through Church Center by selecting the "Youth Scholarships" drop-down.
