Sonrise Update: Pastor Jace

Sonrise Family,

We want to share some updates about changes in our ministry leadership. Last year’s final quarter didn’t meet our expectations, leading to a shortfall for 2025. Thankfully, our savings helped us get through that tough time. Things are looking better financially at the start of this year, giving us hope to rebuild our savings in 2026. To help us achieve this, the trustees and executive team decided to implement a 10% budget cut. Unfortunately, this meant making the difficult choice to eliminate the position of pastor of hospitality, which Pastor Jace has been filling. This decision was made in November 2025, and Jace was informed in December. His last day with us will be Sunday, February 22. We are grateful that God has guided Jace to a new job that will start Monday, February 23.

We want to emphasize that this decision is a result of budgetary constraints and is not a reflection of Jace’s character. We truly appreciate all the heart Jace has poured into his work and how he has shepherded this team with care. During this time of change, keeping things running smoothly is very important to us. Pastor Aaron will take the lead in overseeing this ministry area, with Eliza providing helpful administrative support and Gunnar taking on some extra duties. Jace and Aaron have been working closely to make sure the transition is as seamless as possible. Jace has stayed fully involved from December, when he first learned about the change, through February, to make sure everything was handed over carefully.
