3 Day Bible Reading Plan - “The Church”

The Church is Redeemed. Bought at a price. The Church is diverse. Race is God’s Sovereign Will and His audacious Artistry that is meant to worship. The Church is the new covenant. A community that breaks all barriers. The Church is Timeless. We come from a rich, holy, and bloody heritage. - John C. Hughes, 8/24/25

Day 1

  • Featured Verse: Ephesians 2:13-16 - “You who were once far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.”

    • In what ways does Jesus as our "peace" challenge or redefine traditional notions of peace?

    • How does the concept of being "brought near by the blood of Christ" shape our understanding of salvation and access to God across different cultural or ethnic divides?

    • How does the abolition of the law’s commandments and ordinances through Christ’s work influence our approach to legalism versus grace?

Pause and Reflect: How does Jesus being your "peace" influence the way you navigate personal or relational divisions in your life? What does it look like for you to live out the reconciliation to God "through the cross" in your relationships with others?

“Christ came to make peace; not only between God and man, but between man and man. The cross is the great reconciler, bringing together those who were far off and making them one in Him.” - D.L. Moody

Day 2

  • Featured Verse: Revelation 7:9-10 - “Behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages.”

    • How does the vision of a diverse multitude from every nation and tribe shape your understanding of God’s plan for unity and diversity in the redeemed community?

    • What significance do you find in the multitude’s declaration that “salvation belongs to our God,” and how does this shape your view of God’s sovereignty in salvation?

    • How does the scene of worship before the throne and the Lamb inform your understanding of the purpose and ultimate destiny of the church in God’s redemptive plan?

Pause and Reflect: How does the image of the great multitude in white robes praising the Lamb shape your understanding of your own identity as part of God’s redeemed people? What can you do to live out the unity and worshipful spirit of this diverse multitude in your interactions with others?

“Revelation 7:9 shows us the final assembly of God’s people, a multitude from every nation, clothed in white, worshipping before the throne. This is the glorious end of redemption, where all divisions cease, and Christ is all in all.” - D. Martyn Lloyd Jones

Day 3

  • Featured Verse: Hebrews 11:32-40 - “All these, though commended through their faith, did not receive what was promised.”

    • How does this diverse list of heroes illustrate the different ways faith can manifest in action, and what might this diversity teach us about living out faith today?

    • In what ways does the description of suffering and persecution challenge or deepen your understanding of the cost of faith in a fallen world?

    • How does the idea that the faithful were “commended through their faith” encourage you to persevere in your own faith journey, even when the full realization of God’s promises remains unseen?

Pause and Reflect: How does the endurance of the faithful, who faced persecution and hardship without receiving the promise, inspire you to persevere in your own trials? What steps can you take to trust in God’s “something better” when His promises seem distant in your life?

“In Hebrews 11, we see a catalogue of heroes who, by faith, conquered kingdoms, stopped the mouths of lions, yet others were tortured and destitute, not accepting deliverance. These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but seeing them afar off, teaching us to trust God though the promise tarries.” - Charles Spurgeon
