The Heart of Mercy

Moving into the Fall season from a busy (and hot) Summer, as a pastoral team we have never been more excited about the heartbeat of Sonrise than we are right now. This coming weekend we are introducing a new series at all our campuses that teaches us how God demonstrates his never-ending mercy. Throughout this seven week series, you will rediscover the heartbeat of God and the DNA of Sonrise Church.
So that you fully experience all that this series will offer, I am asking you to commit to the following three actions:
            1) Attendance at all seven Heart of Mercy weekends.
            2) Participate in a Heart of Mercy small group.
            3) Be the hands and feet of Jesus through a Heart of Mercy project.
Throughout the Gospels we see examples of Jesus caring for the sick, the poor, the least, the last and the lost. In my desire that we each experience this way of Jesus in our everyday lives. As you commit to these steps with us, you will discover that ordinary people, empowered by God, can make a big difference together. Please commit to joining with the Sonrise family as God shapes us and moves us to serve others. I believe that you will witness God’s work in ways you could have never imagined!

If you are not able to attend a service for any reason, click the PODCAST link to watch online.

Mercy is one of the defining characteristics of Sonrise Church. We have a heart for the hurting and the broken. We have a heart for the least, the last, and the lost. Why is this? Because our God is a God of mercy. Since we have received his mercy, we want to live our lives showing that same mercy to a hurting and broken world.

Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?”                                                 “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!

Matthew 18:21-22 (NLT)

“‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

Luke 10:27 (NLT)

Heart of Mercy Super group

During this series we will be hosting a Super Group at the church for anyone who is interested in participating.  The super group will meet on Wednesday Nights in the Auditorium, from 7pm-8:30pm.

Ways to Serve

During the next six weeks we are asking you to commit to serve someone in need as a small group, as a family, or as friends.  Please check-in here periodically as we will continue to update this list throughout the series.

  • HillsDoer Day:

HillsDoer Day is Hillsboro’s annual community-wide day of service, on Saturday, October 7. During this one day volunteer event, we hope to connect and engage community members with a variety of volunteer projects across the city and create a momentum that will inspire year round civic engagement.
