Weekend Hospitality Team

Help people connect to God and the church by creating a welcoming environment from the ‘street to the seat’.
Romans 12:13 says "...Always be eager to practice hospitality." Each person that comes through the door at Sonrise is a gift from God. Our mission is to treat them with hospitality and do whatever necessary to help them find Jesus. The weekend team is essential to creating a warm and welcoming environment for each guest. Whether it be assisting with parking, serving donuts at Common Grounds, greeting guests as they walk through the doors, or singing on the worship team, all are equally important in sharing the light of Christ.
Our weekend team opportunities include:
- Greeting Team: extend a warm welcome to our guests and regular Sonrise attenders. We are thankful each and every one are here!
- Information Station Helpers: be prepared to answer questions, sign-in new guests, and families with children.
- Common Grounds Café Coffee Crew: prep the coffee that everyone's looking for and serve specialty coffee drinks and treats at the Café.
- Lead Electric Guitarist: do you play the electric guitar and need a place to plug-in? Join the Worship Team!
- Drummer: the Worship Team is looking for an experienced drummer to join the team.
- Parking Team: our welcome begins in the parking lot. Welcome guests and attenders to Sonrise as you direct them to an available parking space.
Children's Ministry

Nursery opportunites currently available include:
Serve Title: Nursery Babies Worker
Frequency: 3rd Saturday of every month
Description: Do you love holding babies? We are looking for an adult to minister to our babies under the age of 1 during our Saturday 6pm service.
Serve Title: Nursery 1-2 year old worker
Frequency: 2nd & 4th Saturday of every month
Description: Do you love reading books to little ones? Coloring and doing crafts? Even doing a little singing now and then? The nursery is looking for a teacher for the 1-2 year old combined class for Saturday nights at 6pm.
Serve Title: Nursery 1 year old worker
Frequency: 1-2 times per month
Description: Do you love watching little kiddos exploring and playing? Does it make you smile to love on God's children? We are looking for someone to help with the 1 year old class during the Sunday 11am service.
Serve Title: Nursery 2 year old worker
Frequency: 1-2 times per month
Description: Do you love playing with little kids? Coloring and doing crafts? Even doing a little singing now and then? The nursery is looking for a teacher for the 2 year old class at the Sunday 11am service.
Serve Title: Nursery Greeter
Frequency: 1-2 times per month
Description: Do you love serving families with kiddos but prefer to stay out of the classroom? The nursery is looking for a nursery greeter at the 11am Sunday service. You would welcome families, check in & out the kiddos and still be able to attend a service!

Serve title: Classroom helper for 3-4 year olds
Frequency: 1-2 times per month
Description: The Preschool area is looking for responsible Jr. and Sr. High students to assist adult teachers in the classroom. And you'll even get fishy crackers when you volunteer!
Youth Ministry

The youth ministry at Sonrise Church is an active group of young people who are becoming world changers! From time to time, we are in need of "support" that would aid our cause in changing the world in which we live in.
Youth Ministry opportunities include:
- Experienced Drivers: transport youth to/from an event or activity in a Sonrise van. Driver application and copy of driver's license and insurance card are required.
- Special Event Registration: get in on the excitement! Register/check-in students as they arrive at Sonrise for special events.
- Food: youth like food and we like feeding them! If you would be willing to provide snacks for either Middle School Youth Night (Mondays) or High School Youth Night (Wednesdays) that would be a true blessing to the youth ministry team.
Light My Way (LMW)
For ex-prisoners and those with restrictions, ages 18+ only

The goal of the LMW Dinner Team is to show God's love by filling the stomachs as well as the hearts of those who have been involved in the justice system in a safe respectful way. We usually serve 80 plus people each week. We are looking for volunteers who are interested in serving regularly once a month or once every other month. This depends on the number of volunteeres available. They can come try it out and if it's not their cup of tea, that's fine too. We prepare a schedule on a monthly basis. The volunteers provide an email address and phone number in which I notify them of the date they are scheduled to volunteer. Each Sunday consists of a lead and four or five other volunteers.
LMW opportunities include:
Serve Title: Dinner Prep Lead
Frequency: One Sunday per month or every other month. Starting around 12:30pm after the 11 o'clock service.
Description: Do you love planning meals? Do you love to cook? Have you always wanted to be challenged by preparing a meal for a large group on a budget? LMW is in need of a few people up to the challenge. This person cordinates with others in planning the Sunday dinner. They also cordinate with the other volunteers ensuring that the dinner is served at 3pm. Coordination includes the service of the meal and the following cleanup as wel.
Serve Title: Dinner Prep & Clean Up
Frequency: Once a month or once every other month. Starting around 12:30pm after the 11 o'clock service.
Description: Do you like cooking? Do you enjoy keeping things clean and orderly? Do you like helping but don't want to be in charge? These people help with food preparation. They prepare coffee and other drinks, prepare the buffet table, and serve the food to those attending the LMW service. They also clean up after the dinner service. Maybe you work all week but you want to serve, here is a rewarding opportunity to serve for a couple hours each month.
Mercy Ministry
Hospital Visits
Show God's love to Sonrise family members through visitation of those in the hospital, or recovering from an illness at home. For more information contact Heather Brown at mercy@isonrise.com or 503-640-2449.
Mercy Meals
Need meals because of an illness, newborn babies, or a hospital stay? We would like to serve you! If you love cooking this is also a great opportunity to share your gift. You can cook and deliver a meal for a Sonrise family in need. Contact Jessica Evans at 503-985-3256 to get involved.
Grief Support Team
Do you have a heart for those in the midst of grief? Why not invest your time in our funeral ministry at Sonrise. Contact Heather Brown at 503-640-2449 or mercy@isonrise.com for more information on all the ways you can help.
